I think that’s what Loops is trying to be but I don’t see it gaining much ground outside of nerd circles much like Mastodon (which uses the same protocol as it). Neat idea though.

Meta seems to forget that if you prioritize revenue over usability, that it will piss people off. That's part of why Tiktok got so popular. It is why Bluesky is doing so much better than Threads.

You can actually make more money if you don't piss off your users.

I have a long shot hope that that the Green brothers have secretly been bankrolling the creation of a TikTok/YouTube competitor. It's NOT going to happen, but I'd love for someone who CLEARLY gets the medium to be near the helm of one of these things.
