I like the growing discontent over modern technology. Not in the Luddite (I know, colloquially) sense but in the banality and lack of majesty that technology used to have Technology used to be fun and exciting and now it's just black rectangles that want you to sign in (to siphon your data) and pay

So, we now have 1.8GHz in the Cube! It’s a thing of beauty. Though I have to deal with the issue of thermals. Seems my solution of shimming the hell out of the stock heat spreader isn’t enough. Might just solder the whole stack together.

So glad I 3D printed connector pieces for my air conditioner’s window kit because hoo boy the weather has become immensely bipolar and it was pushing 80°F for a couple days and now it’s back down in the mid 50s and drafty as hell so the window kit had to come back out. Much easier this time.

People want Apple to bring back AirPort so bad and I really just…struggle to understand why. Maybe I’m too outside AirPort’s pay grade but trying to work with one way back was a nightmare and requiring an app to do config is also just…meh. Give me a web interface, dang it.

Encountering these hot takes that Pokemon Legends Z-A “looks bad and no one wants to play it” I mean. I’d love for Game Freak to fix the jank. But despite the jank I actually enjoyed Legends Arceus quite a bit and really hoped they’d continue trying to break the mold. Which they’re doing.

KansasFest 2025 venue schedule has dropped. I won't attend, & neither should you. It's being held in a fascist state that thinks entire classes of people aren't real. Location was changed from last year's awesome venue to make it easier on the organizers, w/ little thought put into attendee needs.

And here it is. It isn’t complete. But it’s a proof of concept. Using the G4 Cube’s case as a giant light pipe and embedding LED strips in a 3D printed base (that was designed by mmu_man over on Tinker Different!) I need to use a different filament or use black filament on the interior.

Actually I have a better idea for a boycott: what if we had a single day where we encourage everyone to go through and cancel as many subscriptions to shitty companies as they can? Educate people to alternatives? Thinking things like Netflix, etc. Because that’ll hurt a lot too: recurring revenue.

While hey, I applaud the efforts people are making today, I do want to expand on something I said last night and that’s that I really am not a fan of how some boycotts feel poor/disabled exclusionary and somehow we’re the assholes because we rightfully raise the issue of being unable to participate.

I may hate Fortnite but I will give it credit for revitalizing the market for guitar controllers such that we’re no longer reliant on trying to find old controllers and fix them up/mod them.

Every now and then I get curious about the new FF7 games but then I remember the needless multiverse garbage and immediately put that idea to bed because come on, man, was that really necessary
