One silver lining to this if it ever actually happens (which, we’ll see) is it’ll bankrupt a bunch of lawyers the police unions use to defend misconduct charges
As was pointed out to me just now by another poster, Chauvin and his gang were all found guilty on state charges, so at least there's that. Meanwhile, here in Kentucky we have Mitch protege Daniel Cameron to thank for Breonna Taylor's killers not being found guilty in the local court system.
This is a bunch of things that I'm not aware the feds really put resources towards, and then the last operative line which is ripping up all the consent decrees (I'm pretty sure nixing all said decrees was a Trump 1 thing, too? need to check my memory here)
Good grief. So crazy how in the bag the GOP is now for this federal takeover of local law enforcement considering how for decades prior to this they were all about state rights.
I'm confused about some of these General Provisions, because i) and ii) sound like "DOGE isn't real" fig leaves and I've no idea what they're doing here. I haven't kept up with EOs, are they just copy-pasting that on everything now? (I assume it was copy-paste here)
They put all of this in there but left out their boilerplate severance clause (which says that if a specific portion is frozen or found to be illegal that ruling shouldn’t impact the rest of the EO)
I took a look back and while it appears to have been tweaked a little, there's similar language on Biden, Obama, and W Bush EOs. I'd hazard a guess it first appeared in response to some specific challenge of an EO.
This is not about letting a couple lone wolfs do their work like Chauvin.
This is to preemptively start the conversation on blanket pardoning newly “deputized” storm troopers when they knowingly or unknowingly go into the right or wrong house & hurt the people in it.

Or is that it? From Constitutional Republic to Fascist Police Sate in 100 days? It's that easy?
“Oh you want to take the stand? Sure. Prep for being a witness? Nah you’ll be fine”
Though, maybe it's been poor and this is the sweetner: join a HSTF if you want to get a free defense lawyer and a tank?
They had the money to stand up to Trump, but gave in for even more money.

Especially if you’re on this app.
