Please take care to consider who manages those “experiences” - they likely abused the animals severely to break them😰
Same w/ elephant rides - animal
Abuse is rampant in these touristy “experiences”
Yes, while on peacekeeping duty in the Sinai. Spent time training with the Bedouin. Fascinating people…nomadic lifestyle thousands of years old. Best hot tea ever.
There's a farm in Nova Scotia that raises exotic animals for food. Haven't tried camel, ostrich or zebra yet, but their ground bison was actually pretty good.
I have not ever ridden a camel. My mom did when my dad took a position in Saudi.
A pachyderm in Thailand also.
Don’t know about her other critter cruises.
At the Coastal Carolina fair in Charleston SC in 1976. It refused to bend down to let me off for enough time to make my mother cry and I still don’t know what to make of that. I did make it down and I’m ok though 👍🏽
.
Yes. On Cable Beach, Broome, Western Australia
I also had to give way to 3 strings of camels when I needed to do a turn, as they made their way onto the beach

I lived in the Middle East, and I have ridden camels on many occasions. Nasty creatures. I’m convinced there is no way to look cool riding one, and the more you try, the more ridiculous you look.
Had the opportunity when I was 8, I had nerves of steel, I was going to do it. Then when I was next in line my body noped out of there and the rest of my family rode the camel.
Once when I was a kid, I lived across the street from the Bronx zoo. They had camel rides in the children’s zoo I believe.
And then as an adult, I rode one in Egypt. It was not as fun as it was when I was a kid.
Nope. That one has always been on my bucket list -- but given my current level of creakiness, I think I've missed my window for camel rides into the desert.
Yes, in Gran Canaria. Great fun. They looked after the camels really well and made sure the weight was evenly distributed by placing sandbags around the seat.
As a toddler, I rode a camel in Morocco. My family was traveling before returning to the States after my dad's tour in Germany ended. There are some great pictures on slides in my parents' attic.
My mom and I rode one together at the zoo when I was in my teens. The swaying motion is really strange. And then, right before we dismounted, it belched and that was something else!
I have had marinaded camel strips in red wine, soy sauce & garlic, which I enjoyed. Still a bit chewy though.
That was in Kenya, at a restaurant called Carnivores, just outside Nairobi.
All you can eat meat fest 😋
Ostrich, crocodile, impala, plus the usual pork, chicken etc.
Yes, just once, in Cancun, and we fed them by letting them take a carrot out of our mouths. The whole thing was fun and unique. Maybe not so much for the camels.

I was curious how common or uncommon it is.

Moroccan desert 20 years ago.
Day 1 near Zagora
Day 2 the Saharan Dunes
But I have eaten one, they make very tasty burgers :)

I've ridden a horse but not a camel...
Not the most comfortable way of transportation.

For amount two minutes tho
An elephant? Yes.
Had camel for dinner once in Algeria, marinaded for 12 hours and it was still tough as old boots 🤣

With the food and drinks, it was pretty lively back then too 😆
Deep fried bugs, complete with antennae were a no from me. 😊
Smoked a few, though
