I think it's that - then it's a small percentage of people who don't want to pay taxes, are ammosexuals by nature, and who make over $150,000 a year and can cushion the financial blows that the orange menace will deliver to us - I know such a person, who also repeats "I just don't care!".

I think part of it is a mistaken sense that:

Smaller govt is good — but don’t cut out any services that benefit me directly!

Immigrants are a drain on our economy and cause high crime rates - when opposite is true.

LGBTQ folks make them squeamish so suppress them - instead of acceptance of all
