When modeling, I use the profile of a real animal as a reference.
I create the basic angle at which the nasal bridge drops, 30° for canines, 40° for felines, and 40-45° for herbivores.
The angle makes the nasal bridge longer and more long-faced, but not as far from the cheeks as you might think.
