Which academics are conducting research into how to parent adolescents?

I get asked a lot about parenting advice, and it’s not really my area of focus (I am more interested in peer relationships)

I am keen to send people towards the right experts/papers. Who is conducting research in this space?

Yes ! Clinically usually hypothesis driven practice (behaviour change occurs in public health where ‘respect’ is used, so apply to parenting etc). W. #EmilyMidoushas (GH) & #BonnayOliver -our grant evaluates a largely untested teen programme https://theministryofparenting.com/parents/stop-group/. 👀 for updates

@lucyfoulkes.bsky.social I want the answer. I have a history of MH problems. Onset when I was a teenager. I'm super conscious that the family environment can impact our mental health in really subtle ways. How do I parent in ways that will help my kids stay well?

No book I'm afraid - thank you though! This is more because I am asked to include it when writing stuff/get asked in interviews and Q&As etc. Interestingly most of the responses here seem to be re MH (important as you know), but less so straight up parenting...

@lucyfoulkes.bsky.social similarly to this, @psy-fm.bsky.social has done research on supporting parents with mental health problems and @drshirleyr.bsky.social CBT guide for parents is excellent! Marie Yap from Monash also has an evidence-based website called ‘Parenting Strategies’
