I like to think as an academic researcher I'm rational and evidence based. But parenting is an emotional business and it's all to easy to get sucked into panic!

I completely understand. And I think the point isn't to go the other way and think phones are totally fine, but more to acknowledge their complexity, the good and the bad, the individual differences etc. But it's hard to get these messages out against the loud scary ones...

This has been my issue with parenting advice in general. It's really hard to find advice that acknowledges complexity, provides an evidence base and is not judgmentally prescriptive.

Most of the time it's: DO THIS OR YOU WILL RUIN YOUR CHILD!!!
