Excellent interview. Goldberg has a lot of class. I think the reason universities, law firms, and journalists are unprepared for the “Trump treatment” is because authoritarianism is not traditionally an American thing. But we need to understand it is now the new normal and fight back in unison.

Very interesting and necessary interview. One criticism: I found the tone very light, lots of jokes, lots of audience laughter. I believe the time for that type of ambience is passed, and a far more serious tone is warranted. That said I am a firm Anne Applebaum fan.

The thing that has surprised me and I think a lot of others, is the lack of institutional resistance, save the courts.

Also, Trump 1, his cabinet wasn’t so full of crazies and they stopped him doing things.

Here, every single official in that chat knew they were breaking the law and did nothing.
