It's my pleasure. I really like your overall message of the talk. Perhaps, early next year (when we start to prepare for the spring semester courses), you could post some concrete tips for how you go about making students' "learning journey" fun and "lighting a fire" in them. That'd be helpful.

I believe Haidt's analogy, as mentioned in Most's video, offers key insight into better connecting with students. In this AI era, it’s vital to move beyond a dualistic view and see the Rider (Reason) and the Elephant (Emotion) as an interconnected unity and a fundamental feature of human experience.

Such a 'wholeness'-oriented approach seeks to move beyond the mainstream emphasis on 'cold cognition' (e.g., what students are thinking, or content) and also values 'feelings'. Student feedback in @sbmost.bsky.social's video seems to reinforce this view.

Thanks! In my original post re: @sbmost.bsky.social's TEDx talk, I couldn't mention those points, so it's great that you brought them up here. Your reference to "feelings" also meshes well with the premise of "The Spark of Learning" by @sarosecav.bsky.social -- Emotion matters in student learning.

Thank you! I'll definitely check out Sarah's work. I love learning about other educators and researchers who seriously explore the role of emotion and feelings in learning. During my PhD research, I encountered both significant prejudice and wonderful admiration and encouragement around this topic!
