Will's arguments are also applicable to procrastination. Existing research tends to focus on the procrastinator, but situational/environmental factors do matter (some even suggest universities as "procrastination-friendly"). We need to go beyond the individual level to understand self-regulation.

Environment is one of the most effective variables in working with people who are prone to procrastination. Not least because high situation awareness directly correlates to high action potential. And vice versa.

Another reason I loved @wilhelmhofmann.bsky.social's paper: framing climate behavior (e.g., everyday choice dilemmas) as a self-control issue that requires multilevel considerations. I'd say procrastination is also relevant here: People often put off pro-environmental actions (see this new study).
