can’t recall which goper said it about restaurants, but the message was health inspections aren’t necessary because if enough people go to that restaurant and die, word will get around and eventually people will stop going there.

You're partially correct. There's been instances on Spinach, but rare, nowhere the frequency of outbreaks with meat, all over the world. And even with Spinach, its the practice of farming employed that was the problem, i.e. huge, intensive, poisoned (non organic) farms. The key is to go Organic.

You can still run into the issue with the use of manure/feces as fertilizer. To my knowledge, that would still be 'organic.' Outbreaks of contamination feel to be more of an industrialinaction issue. Too many corporations trying to cut corners instead of doing the right thing.

I'm very happy I have local sources of meats and produce here on the Big Island. My meat is from farms/ranches within 30-miles of my hale, my produce is from all over the State and even my back yard. I'm so happy I've this option.
