The Tories are great survivors and have no real ideology at all. They are just about the getting and keeping of power. Brexit has been their downfall. Will they have to go through another General Election hammering before they get real and move back to the centre? I can see them losing more seats.

There's a deep structural challenge for any Tory leader hopeful: first they have to convince the Parliamentary party to back them; next they have to get the members to back them. But neither of these constituencies is at all representative of the wider electorate they'll need to appeal to at the GE.
