Bee-HERO is funded by NSF-IRES. A primary goal of this program is to provide research opportunities for students from historically-underrepresented groups & address systemic inequities in access. In addition to receiving a stipend, participants' travel & lodging expenses are covered by the program.

Bee-HERO is primarily recruiting participants from w/in ~2.5hr geographic radius of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT because all travel costs are included. There are minimal pre-requisites and prior research experience is NOT required - the goal is to create opportunities, not barriers. 🧪🐝

Bee-HERO includes: 4wk virtual prep program (reading/activities related to projects); 2wk in-person bootcamp (lab skills, team-building activities); 8wk research at Swedish Agricultural University; 3d rendez-vous (data analysis, community presentation); 5) cohort trip to scientific conference. 🧪🐝
