Meanwhile AfD’s Alice Weidel is on with CDU’s Thorsten Frei (close Merz ally likely to run the chancellery or be interior minister). Frei is a migration hardliner but the two scrap over the viability of a deal between two parties. Weidel explicitly cites AfD’s 2029 prospects.
