No-one in your story needs to be there as a representative of their community, their race, their disability or their beliefs. Everyone is unique. Everyone serves the story. Diversity is part of the world. Anyone can be a main character.

We're all down at the local watering hole.
Homo sapiens, antelopes, bison, giraffes and lions.
Each group looks, lives, loves differently than the others.
But we all allow access to that watering hole.
That's the reality of it all.
That's what Mother earth intended.
Just sayin'
The only time I plan on mentioning it is when a cis female character helps him manage his period in an unfamiliar environment.
