1) the social worker wouldn't have known the ASD diagnosis or anything prior to arriving and assessing.
2) they almost certainly wouldn't have been able to assess the situation before the police fired on him since they fired so quickly after arriving.

you're right- but there are two things - we ask police to do too much - and they have poor training- not that they aren't well trained - they are- it's what they are trained is wrong. I remember it was maybe in the mid 80s that Police were instructed to shoot people within a certain distance.

They behaved exactly as they were trained. Police academies are usually privately run, or employ private contractors, and literally teach cops to shoot first before anything else. They train them to behave as if they are in constant warfare.

I don’t recall cops being so afraid in the past. What’s going on? Lack of real training? Not enough funding to train cops not to injure and kill minors without guns? Do they not know how to get a knife away from a teen? I work with autistic children and teens, and I could do that.
