Who would ever negotiate or speak to them like they aren't liars and deniers.

The idea behind the white-power rally was to “unite” far-right and neo-Nazi groups with the MAGA movement. It was seen as a failure at the time, but the insurrection showed it was not. Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, groypers like Nick Fuentes were at both riots, only on Jan. 6, they flew the MAGA banner.

The MAGA movement absorbed both the personnel and the violent tactics of the white-power organizers who marched on Charlottesville. They are part of the administration preparing to take power, not just as a militant arm but a militant ethos that infuses the movement.

That violence will emerge in horrific spectacles like the attacks on Charlottesville and the Capitol, but also in policy created by the administration. One of the horrors of Jan. 6 was that the violent insurrection was followed by a procedural one, as 147 Republicans voted to overturn the election.
