Tens of thousands of years ago, modern humans mated with Neanderthals. But exactly how and when that happened, and who those groups of humans were, was less known. New research adds some clues.

Apparently a bunch of Neanderthals turned up wearing hats that said Make Anthropocene Great Again, and for reasons science has yet to fathom, a section of human society found them utterly irresistible.
A chilling warning from history.
Various produce can ferment on its own when ripe and left under the right conditions. There's always been drunken possibilities; it simply took humanity a long time to figure out how to intentionally replicate the process because they enjoyed it.
Hmmm! Humans mated with Neanderthals? And not the other way round? And do we assume it was consensual?
Because we have a lot of modern day Neanderthals whose violence toward women is well documented.
Just sayin'.
Saying they "mated" makes these folks seem so primitive, but it's likely they weren't.
For all we know the girl invited the boy to meet the parents over dinner.
I love this field of study. It happened MANY times, between multiple hominids. A lack of Neanderthal mitochondrial DNA in ours suggests that only female human & male Neanderthal could produce sexually viable offspring. We even have Denny, the Neaderthal/Denosivan hybrid.
THIS is why I am creeped out by hyenas. The only known existence of this super cool hybrid hominin is from a bone that likely was at least consumed by one, if not killed by a hyena.
Who knows what other human editing extinction events they were responsible for.
It was me, last week- all it took was a rainy night in Glasgow and a few whiskies. Seemed like a nice girl though, thought her name was Nishia Andertals, sounded Scandinavian
Unless you go to school in Oklahoma, then, we were just created as we are and the Neanderthals were late for the ride in the ark and all drowned. All the fossil records and science were created by evil witches to lead us off the path of the 700 club

...to get fairly graphic answers to that particular "less known."
