When is this going to end? We’ll have an oligarchy government with people living in every corner of a street, alley, curb, gutter, etc..oh wait America has this currently.
I complained to my state insurance commissioner about the 35% increase I had this year for auto, home. He basically said if they forced regulation, the insurers would leave WA state, like some have left CA. I just wish it was nationalized. Like, province of BC does auto ins. for everyone.
Ah yes, the industry that basically contributes nothing to our country, continually makes things worse for those who need the most help. Sadly not surprising at all.
Wouldn’t it be nice if one of the many billionaires would cover the insurance premiums? It’s a drop in the bucket for them but a lifeline for many. Pass it along. Perhaps a philanthropic multimillionaire could make this New Year’s wish come true.
The insurance industry claims this market has more claims compared to others. But experts disagree.
It also cites environmental issues as a reason for increasing rates. Wonder whose fault that is? Every country in the Paris Climate Accords is failing to meet its goal.
I don't know if he did the right thing, but if health care is a shark, it is completely covered with many layers or remoras and lampreys. We need to take action, and if the legal system and government don't allow change, our action must be at a more fundamental level.
I worry about revolution, because I don't want the new boss to be the same as the old boss. - I fear that the tools of the science of influence are mostly in the hands of the wealthy.
Shelter is a basic right of all humans, even those who may not be what is considered "normal" or have mental health challenges. I'm not saying they should have a luxury condo but they should have protection from the weather. They should be able to feel safe and secure. And have something to eat.
Insurance companies screwing over the most vulnerable in the name of profit… where have I seen that before? Oh wait it’s not a bug it’s a feature. Seems like another form of terrorism to me.
There's a reason this type of insurance exists. It's needed.
And premiums should go up when costs for damages goes up. Logical.
But why are insurance companies *supposed to* make a good profit? Why can't providing the service & covering the costs associated w/ that just be *enough*?
I'm just puzzled why this isn't funded properly. Why can't California self-insure these facilities? Why do they need to be private organizations seeking complex indirect funding? This should all be covered by a legislative process.

But why are these facilities privately run and privately insured in the first place?
The homeless are not the only ones being threatened by insurance increases.
"...especially as they also confront higher rebuilding costs, more frequent losses from natural disasters, and other challenges."
Many mortgages are at risk, a financial crisis may be next.

It's a cartel closing ranks.

My (Canadian) insurance company just demutualised and sent us a big cheque, with the result that the new company officers become rich.
So we're going to find another one.
