Has anyone noticed how the Right just can't stop themselves kicking people when they're down? Trump adding coals to the wildfires by lying and making cheap jibes.
The Right must always have an enemy. Follow them and your life will be spent in endless conflict.
The misinformation being spread by them has been unreal on Twitter, they have also drowned out some important communication by official accounts on the fires going on smh
I think they (Trump, Elon, etc) know they are lying. But they know that lying gets them where they are. And if their lies are believed by enough people then they should just keep lying and see how many people will believe it. Because some will believe the lie & others will forgive or ignore the lie
We know what fuels the fires, winds and dead wood/brush, but what started the fires? 5 to 6 fires all starting within a few days? Has there been lightning? Or downed power lines? I don’t see any reporting on what started the fires.
An investigation into the cause of a fire can’t usually begin until the fire is extinguished. Usually (about 85% of the time) it’s human caused. Additional fires can and have popped up due to wind blowing embers around. We likely won’t know the cause for a while.
Just one observation.
The Altadena fire started a few minutes (about an hour) after the Palisades fire started. And if you know LA winds, embers can’t blow up wind from Palisades to Altadena. Same issue for Sylmar fire.
I think all the fires are far enough apart that embers couldn’t have started them from each other. Just a layman’s opinion. We will see when the professionals do their investigations.
No expert here either. This was the article that talked about embers for these fire spreading erratically for miles in all directions and not following normal wind patterns due to a wind storm in the area. Hoping for some good news soon and an end to the death and destruction ASAP
Thanks for sharing. It’s an interesting read. As I read it, it seems like they’re talking about the winds in and around the fires, not necessarily the winds in between fires. But it’s not super clear.
From the article “the ember cast that can fly a mile or two”
Palisades to Altadena nearly 30 miles
Thanks for the update. People, please, when ask to leave get out. First responders have enough to do without having to rescue a stubborn person who refuses to leave. With these winds the fire is fast & unpredictable
Stay safe everyone take care of each other
I hope you call out the elected (and appointed) leaders who are using this fire as an excuse to blame minorities and DEI. I hope you never treat the opinions of those racists as valid, but I don’t have hope for NPR to do the right thing anymore.
