President Biden had once hoped to be giving a second inaugural address. Instead, he'll be saying farewell to public life, and trying to frame his legacy one last time.

He has no legacy besides the new Trump administration. That's unfair and ignores the many good things Biden did as president, but I just can't see the CHIPs act overshadowing the successful rise of fascism in the US.
By that logic, is Ukraine in the wrong for killing so many Russians in response to the invasion of their country too? (Zelenskyy stated that 43k Ukrainian soldiers are dead and about 600k Russians are dead or wounded, according to politico)
President Biden had once hoped to be treated fairly by the not-Fox media, which, as has become clear, preferred the clicks from chaos that Trump would bring.
If there was a Democrat in the White House the last 4 years who added Puerto Rico & DC as states, expanded SCOTUS to 13 & hung trump’s mug shot in the WH, they’d be inaugurated on the 20th.
The media will have to reckon with its endless ageism against Biden and virtually no ageism against Trump, bad press that cost us the election. The hypocrisy cannot stand. The media must be accountable for its hypocrisy and bias.
Too late to reframe that pathetic legacy. Lipstick on a pig doesn't begin to describe that effort. 20% aggregate inflation, 15 million illegals, increased crime, $200+ billion to Ukraine for nothing, Afghanistan withdrawal debacle... good night and adios Corn Pop
Time will tell how history will remember him. In the here and now, I believe he brought dignity and decorum back to the presidency. It's not his fault that voters wanted someone who was brash, undiplomatic and demeaning.
His legacy will be the total abandonment of integrity and embracing of hypocrisy by pardoning his son, and his complete duplicitous nature of calling for a ceasefire in Gaza while simultaneously funding and supplying Israel's genocidal ethnic cleansing campaigns. Good riddance.
It’s been a long four years, but it probably would’ve been longer if Trump had gotten elected again. For better or worse, you will probably be one of the last major qualified, elected officials we will see run this country for a while.
At least Jimmy Carter was a decent human being, unlike Biden.
Biden's legacy will be "that time the US had a walking corpse for President, no not the actor guy, the one with the son who smoked crack w/underage hookers and lost his blow at the WH."
His legacy as a politician isnt good. The last 4 years he became soft spoken and earnest, but his voting legacy in congress and the senate just did bad for the American public and leaves a sour taste, especially when he decided to run a second term that a majority didn't want.
In 2016 we thought trump wanted to overthrow the constitution. in 2020 we watched trump try to overthrow the constitution. There is a large space between thought and actions.
Biden helped save the US from the chaos of Dubya in 08 and then he came back and guided the country back from chaos of the shitgibbon's first term. Democrats elect competent intelligent leaders. Republicans elect dangerous fools.
Harris lost because of the effects of 2022 inflation, broken supply chains, and corporate greed. We have a capitalist economy yet the president always gets blamed. Voters don't pay attention to what's really happening.
I know. That's what I said. It's capitalism. It had nothing to do with President Biden. But we have an uniformed, apathetic electorate who doesn't pay attention and can't think critically.
Should've held a timely and proper primary, to pick the most electable candidate, someone that would have had the guts to distinguish and distance themselves from 'pick me and you get four more years of the same, including keep funding Israel, never mind all these killings of innocent civilians'
No disagreement from me. All the more reasons to stop power/ego tripping and do a deep analysis instead, and not select first Hilary then Kamala. Lose once to the 🤡 shame on you, lose twice to (the same) 🤡... methinks it's on me
Exactly. We changed candidates to one chosen for us, which no one likes, and then she ran a status quo campaign in a change year. The Democratic party is full of cowards afraid to run on what people want lest their donors close their pocketbooks.
I agree to a extant specifically about the donors and the fear of losing them but the idea that Harris was going to win against a campaign that had been raging on for a decade is nonsense.. And then to top it all off musk comes in and starts pouring a million a month into trump? No way in hell.
Trump's base of support didn't fluctuate much from 2016 to 2020 to 2024. Change was in the enthusiasm of left leaning voters. Left leaning voters didn't want a second Biden term, nor did they want an unpopular candidate forced on them, nor did they tolerate tone deaf, status quo policy proposals.
I I knew someone would post that right away because that's the only source and if you look closely there are no names associated with it. Meanwhile people just took it as fact. In fact though Biden never made a pledge to only seek one term
A weak president who ran cover for a genocidal government who returned the favor by actively campaigning against him. It’s like Rwanda was for France except this time everyone is watching him break the law to support this genocide. He hammered the last nail in the coffin of the 2 state solution.
Dark for dark business, as the dwarves say. I liked it. What he said has depth and resonates. It was surprising in some ways. One of his best speeches. Maybe the most important one ultimately.
He did what we asked him to do.

Not an complete list, and I wish the last had a different outcome, point is he did what we asked.
It won’t be a good one. Warmongering, lied about complete student loan cancellation, did nothing to help the poor and working class as prices soared.
No social housing. He was the most republican democratic President I’ve seen. Maybe Dems will do better? Maybe they’ll keep gaslighting us?
Please don’t use the word progressive with Biden’s name. Haha!
Listen- It’s ok to be a supporter of corporate Democrats.
I am not. I am a real progressive/Green and Dems are not my party anymore. Not my circus, not my monkeys!
His legacy will remain as a supporter of a genocidal president who endorsed the killing of over 45,000 people using American taxpayers’ money. The American people seek peace and justice for both Israelis and Palestinians.
Like Obama Joe needed a second term to let his very beneficial policies take hold. That said, Trump is gonna ride the same wave he did with Obama and the dimwits will once again credit a destructive deregulating tax cutting Republican for a healthy Democrat economy
I will miss President Biden, a man of integrity, intellect, and believer of our Democracy! During his tenure, I felt hopeful and invincible; now I’m struggling taking life one day at a time.
A legacy indeed. While no politician makes right choices 100% of the time, I believe Mr. Biden has, in most cases, had the best interests of the US and its people in mind.
It’s unfortunate that the progress he’s made will soon be dismantled.
Every president that has taken office since I've been born has used American tax dollars to turn the people in the middle east into abstract art against the desert sand. The implied statement was that all presidents are genocidal. That is correct. No one gets bonus points for being slightly less so.
lol his legacy will be everything his done over his career. Not the latest little spat between longtime enemies that will continue to happen as long as the planet keeps turning
The Americans who refused to take Jewish refugees from Germany thought that was a “little spat”. He’ll also be remembered as a political chameleon who authored legislation resulting in incarceration of 1/3 of his countrymen, all African American. His legacy has a theme.
Negative: a genocidal leader with international arrest warrant campaigned for his opponent in a joint session not only did he not enforce the law and arrest him, he criticized the court who issued the warrant. Then broke US law to continue to enable the genocide. Balance.
Got us out of Covid. Removed us from 20 years in Afghanistan. Chips act. Highest stock market in us history. Lowering pharma prices. Passing PACT act. Inflation reduction act. Crushed Russias nutsack. Helped with TT ban. Safer communities act. Pardons for weed offenders. Etc
Dude you all lost that election because you wanted to run cover for a genocide and you refuse to learn any lessons or reflect at all. Enjoy losing elections in perpetuity while we still have them.
Oh I’ll be fine my man. I was thinking more of the minorities/women/etc who will suffer at the hands of Trump and his minions all so left wing tankie dipshits could feel some fake superiority for their “protest” vote aka voting for Trump.
No. Left wing one voter issues in particular truly earned all the shitty things that will happen to them and the country. If they had the ability to feel shame, they’d be experiencing in spades right about now but judging from their lack of reflection, they’ll just keep torpedoing their own future

He'll be remembered as the Weimar president.
Tell me good sir, I'm bad at math: which of these numbers is larger --- 40,000 or 3,000
Also, you're talking about a war: soldiers killing soldiers in armed combat.
That's not what is happening in Gaza, please try again.
Biden's legacy will be "that time the US had a walking corpse for President, no not the actor guy, the one with the son who smoked crack w/underage hookers and lost his blow at the WH."
good man and a good president.
It's time for sleep.
Carter
Bush I
Bush II
Trump 2020
Look at the exit polls.

He failed to protect democracy in any way, which was the most important mandate he had.
He’s morally bankrupt after funding and supporting genocide.

History of course has nuance/context/etc and will obviously
remember Biden for all the positive things he has done, as well as negatives
Let them enjoy💁🏻♂️
