Comments blowing this off are fucked up. Education matters in this state. It sucks because republicans don’t want it. Stop bitching and shrugging and fight for education.
For those stating oh poor red state you got what you voted for. As with most large populated areas: St. Louis City County, MO is very liberal. In St. Louis City County, MO 81.9% of the people voted Democrat in the last presidential election, 16.0% voted for the Republican Party.
Same with KS. People are all "boo hoo" about the TB cases (that started last year), but the two counties I'm aware of with the most cases are always-blue counties. They're also two of the more populated/dense counties, on the MO state line & part of the Metro, so it makes since to have more cases
Potentially the best view of the everyday Americans being affected by the Trump/Musk 2025 policies. More of this NPR. Your affiliates know and can tell the nation what’s going on. MORE community journalism.
Missouri constantly punishes STL and KC for their liberal policies. As a STL resident, I would love if we could secede from Missouri and join Illinois. Show Missouri that all their funding comes from the cities and make them suffer. We didn’t vote for this.
Also have to mention that evil ass Mike Kehoe is trying to privatize all the schools anyway. We are $300 million short for our education budget, and the republicans don’t plan on funding it.
How about the people who live here that didn't vote for him? Should I suffer too? Show some fucking solidarity with the people that are suffering in red states from this administration instead. Here's how st Louis county voted for your edification. Moron.
Problem is, blue counties in MO are grossly outnumbered. Effective opposition party strategy and messaging on the ground has been desperately needed statewide for decades. Regular folks need to mobilize and step up and do the grassroots work needed to run for office, promote and elect good people.
I’ve been criticized for my comment, and perhaps rightly so, but my admittedly brief research shows fairly poor turnout for Harris in STL and several precincts becoming more red. You can’t have that happen in your strongholds and then complain about the outcome. 1/2
Doesn’t change my opinion. As HL Mencken said, “Democracy is the idea that people know what they want, and they deserve to get it. Good and hard.” We are now entering the good and hard stage.
Multiple federal courts have ordered the Trump Administration to lift the freeze, yet the freeze remains in place.
This is the direct result of the Supreme Court ruling that the President cannot be held responsible for breaking any law as long as he labels it as an "official act."
