Over and over again, in just weeks, malevolent leverage is being exerted by a lawless and vengeful president, against not just the traditions and institutions of our government, but the Constitution itself. Article III is under attack. Maybe focus there while NPR keeps its powder dry.
I doubt it. They've been begging me to renew my membership for years. I don't think Average Americans watch PBS that frequently. I renewed because I wanted to protect a trusted news source.
My guess is it's to protect 501c3 status. If he targets that because orgs don't comply, non-profits go under immediately and anyone with PSLF progress is out of luck too.

Honestly, if NPR isn’t willing to stand up or against how are we as normal citizens able to do so? This feels so similar to government tv and Germany attitude that happened so many years ago.
I wholeheartedly agree. PBS relies on government and public funds. Yea, that's a department, and they can shut it down. But, PBS was always about inclusion and pushing for equality before DEI. I'm sure they won't abandon that because of this.
As a station that has promoted tolerance and empathy in so many ways, I have to say that I'm saddened and surprised to hear they're buckling under to the Trusk fascist regime. I hope this is a strategy that I don't understand.

I use a VPN now. As for donating to the “resistance” the answer is no. Most of that stuff is just influencers who do nothing but make videos. No offense but that whole resistance stuff is dumb. I won’t be donating to anything for the foreseeable future except the Humane Society.

This hurts right down to my soul. PBS was often the only children's programming we had when I was a kid, growing up poor in the rural deep south. Wishbone, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, the Magic School Bus, Arthur... They all taught tolerance and acceptance. My heart aches...

While we could legitimately argue about the merits of DEI, this move is clearly giving into a mobster who threatens to burn down that "nice little broadcast service you got here."
This isn't going to save them from Trump's anger, so why debase themselves like this? At least have some dignity instead of selling out everyone else to try (and fail) to save your own skin.

Not sure but DEI policies were put in place directly after the civil rights act of 1964. So that should give you a clue about the purpose of such initiatives
How much money do they need to be donated so they can stop this ridiculous proactive compliance? What would offset the federal contribution that’s making them feel like they need to do this?
