Toto has not been nominated. The combined members of that band have over 5000 album appearances, 225 Grammy nominations, made some of the biggest selling albums in history, huge streaming numbers & are currently selling out 30,000 seat arenas world wide. Oasis before Toto? Give me a freakin’ break.
It’s not actually a thing anymore, officially, but various members of the band - the Porcaros, Lukather - would make great inductees in the sideman category.
Toto would actually be a good fit for the Musical Excellence special award since, in addition to their own hits, most of the members were legendary session musicians.
I just don't understand after the first 3 years of inductions, which were very evident Chuck, Buddy, Beatles, Stones... the inductees just keep getting me more confusing to me.
The great thing about music, is you can always find more. Their music is good, and yes it is a me problem. Never meant any offense to their fans. Just a discussion point. Not open hostility.
It’s not the “Rock” Hall of Fame. It’s the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame”, which came from blues, and originated with Sister Loretta Tharp, Little Richard & Chuck Berry so people who have an issue with influential artists making it are showing their judgment
Seconded. Idk about any one else but if you look at NWA and say they weren't fucking rock and roll, I dunno what you're looking at.
The Hall has been very upfront they induct everyone from the creation of rock and roll, whether it be from the branch that developed to country, rock, R&B, or rap.
I wish the beginning of the museum was more obvious in telling visitors without the Elvis exhibit RIGHT there, but I still think it gets across what is rock and roll if you look for it.
Most of the 14 nominees belong (they’ve already decided on a loose definition of “rock” so just stop with the “they’re not rock” arguments), but there’s nobody where I’d say it’s an oversight/travesty that they’re not in yet

I have no time for this.
I just want to know who's fighting in the Drag Queen Cage Match at the Trump-Kennedy Center this Friday.
Oasis
White Stripes
Say hello to Charlie Ward for me!
But it’s about impact, legacy, iconography. All that. And if the Sex Pistols can get in with one studio album, the definition of impact is subjective.
It is...
I very much do mind that they do so while simultaneously almost completely ignoring metal.
When hearing a Mexican rock band was getting inducted, Trump dissolved the board and made himself chairman.

And thank goodness. Really it’s a museum to document the importance of youth culture in changing the world. And we need that now more than ever.
Bad Brians, tho.
They won't get into the Corporate Hall of Ghouls either.
