An NPR investigation finds federal judges have enormous influence with few checks on their power. Law clerks and other judicial employees are vulnerable to mistreatment and have few job protections.

Such interesting timing for a story like this one. I don’t doubt the veracity. People in power abuse their power. That is a truism. But NPR runs this story now? As the executive branch prepares an assault on the judiciary? Just so goddamn interesting.
With our current commander in cheese, I don't for see this changing without revolution. Oops, I did the Republican thing, said the quiet part so loud it broke our democracy...
I clerked for two federal Article III judges. I know dozens of other law clerks. Not *once* did I ever see or hear of “mistreatment.” And if it were to happen, there were multiple avenues for recourse. What an entirely pointless article, especially with everything else happening right now.
NPR going full Vichy for Trump. Pathetic.
Acting as a collaborator won't mean a thing to the zealot at the head of the FCC. It just shows that you are weak.

This is why people aren’t running to protect the lawyers at DOJ targeted by the Trump team. American Bar Associations, prosecutors offices, judges chambers, and law offices have been rotting on the vine for decades.
The timing/framing of this and many other articles as of late is highly suspect and I am really starting to question the editorial independence of NPR, which is devastating as a lifelong listener and two decade supporter of many different local stations as I moved around the country as an adult.
We have a Supreme Court that said the president is King when his name is Trump and there is no mechanism to say “no, go fuck yourselves” in this country.

Exactly. I’m sure it’s true. Cover it sometime. What took so long in fact?
But we are going to lean on the judge’s who are serving as the last backstop of democracy and getting threatened with impeachment for it already?
Next up on NPR, "Hillary's Email Server - A Threat in 2025?"
Many of their meetings are recorded and broadcast on X. Take notes and get transcripts to use at confirmation hearings.

Now, actually do some investigating the way journalists are supposed to.
Yeah but AI can be compromised.
right....like the catholics on our Supreme Court?!
Where are you been?
Judges are little bitty untouchable kings for life and it’s bullshit.
