UPDATE: Elon Musk visited the Pentagon on Friday. But questions about why ignited a fresh storm of controversy surrounding his access to sensitive government information. Here's what to know.

Ah I see
The constitution is only valid if it agrees with Trump
Judges are only valid if they agree with Trump
News is only valid if it agrees with Trump
Voters are only valid if they agree with Trump
When they all post *nothing to see here*, you should pay attention.
These guys have grade-school mentality, and assume we are all as gullible as their supporters.
Pretty sure we don’t need a “top advisor”. If 🍊 can’t manage the job for himself it’s obvious he should step down. What’s the point of having a co-president?? This shit is dangerous and needs to be dealt with. They’ve already been ignoring court orders. Someone needs to do something about it!
so, no one left in military admin with the courage to stop this? sounds like their ready to turn the military on USR citizens when they attempt to protest.
Advisors to U.S president have to have security check to access sensitive information.
-no checks on record have shown Musk has had one.
Heads of department have confirmation hearings/checks.
-no record of Musk having those.
Well, that’s what happens when you have a president who believes that just thinking about things declassifies them, and a court that is too chickenshit to tell him no.
WHY ARE WE LETTING THIS UNAUTHORIZE UNELECTED PERSON ACCESS ANY SENSITIVE INFORMATION?! Seriously how are there no redundancies against this type of crap?
I guess nobody ever thought it would be attempted but good god if i was any of these heads, I'd beat his ass before giving sensitive info access
Unfucken believable-
His so called current position technically ends after 130 days or May 20th. Am hoping that Democrats hold him accountable if he goes over this time. He was not properly vetted and makes me so angry 🤬
Hegseth, & anyone else in the pentagon allowing this clown show to continue, is actively breaking their first vow of military service which states they will protect the Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic.
Wildly inappropriate and unacceptable. Republicans should be the first to decry this federal interloper access to the Defense Department, always carrying on about national security (they don’t mean it, of course).
Think about the phrase "leaking maliciously false information." If something is false, it can be imagined but it cannot be leaked. You cannot leak something that is not there. Your car cannot leak milk.
When do Americans remember that the politicians work for us! We hired them and paid them to promote the general welfare and ensure domestic tranquility. They are not doing their job! We are in charge not them. The balance of power is VERY fckued!
Where was the committee hearing? When was he confirmed? When did he take drug tests? How did he get security clearance? There are no longer checks and balances- is this South African apartheid billionaire a threat to the US national security and interests?
That man can't be trusted. At one time he was saying all the right things for the democrats and the left. He got big contracts from the Obama admin. The left bought his vehicles. Now he's saying all the right things for the right. He's self-serving and does massive business with China.
The word "clearance" does not appear in the story. Musk does not have security clearance. If he is given Top Secret information, laws are being broken.
And, no, we should not believe Musk or Hegseth. Verify!
Hey, @npr.org! How would you report this if it was a Democrat. Do it THAT way.
Why is this allowed to continue?? I mean literally this guy has no real authority, no Senate confirmation, and literally bought his way into power....and we just give him access to top secret info??
Because republicans placed trump loyalists into positions of power. This is all on trump. He gave musk and others authorization to destroy our country. Project 2025 is real and trump is following it to the T.
Some of the best coders and security professionals in the world can't get a security clearance because they occasionally have a weed gummy and watch movies on the weekends. But this demonstrably erattic ketamine addict just gets whatever information he wants. This is a good system.
Trump is bought and sold. Musk apparently is the actual VP and an unelected and unaccountable civilian who has business ties to China, and has his own personal calls with Putin, is being given access to America’s military secrets. Mark your calendars.
However, if he uses his fat mouth to say anything, it will come back on mr trump as he will not be able to sweep that under the rug and then maybe KARMA will be right there to handle it.

The question is why wasn't putin along on the visit - our did he prefer to just join the video-conference.
Yeah, I'm cynical as hell administration-wise.
-no checks on record have shown Musk has had one.
Heads of department have confirmation hearings/checks.
-no record of Musk having those.
Take over

npr mildly curious

"China gets access to any war plans from the US government via their vassal which purchased the Presidency."
Sloppy and dangerous! 🚫
Musk is a scummy NAZI who wants anyone who disagrees with him dead.
Any questions?
