If hiking is about a destination, forest bathing is about an immersion of the senses into the natural world. It's a wellness trend, and studies suggest several health benefits.

I spent most the winter bathing everyday in a hot-spring in the Mohave desert, the water was like 90 degrees Fahrenheit and the outside air temp was in the mid 40s, it was awesome
HTF is bathing in the forest a new wellness trend? Entire towns in my state have tourist industries based on it. The English city Bath sprung up around Romans doing it 2000 years ago. Narcissism is based on a Greek fable about a guy who forgot to get in.
I grew up near lakes, rivers, etc in Texas. I’m going to ask people NOT to try bathing in them at a time that we are gutting the Environmental Protection Agency that keeps them reasonably free of toxins and sludge.
“Forest bathing isn't a bath. We sat on the banks of the river, but we did not get in the water.” Stupidest name ever then? Water watching more accurate.
Sorry, but modern skyscrapers in the background isn't a forest immersion to me. Luckily I don't have to venture very far in PDX to find a real forest immersion called Forest Park.
This feels a lot like reading about “the miracles of Hot springs” back in the 1800s. Like yeah turns out leaving smog cities for fresh air and bathing regularly while drinking uncontaminated water tends to make us feel better lol
“My white hair started growing back black/brown/blonde again!!! Fountain of youth!!!” Bro you are 30 yr old scientist and just stopped touching mercury at work every day for a few weeks 😭😭
So does Trump and Elon really have yall that scared you’re republishing joke articles. Like them folks don’t even wash their legs and feet, times are desperate but don’t encourage them to put their bodies in our nature water ways 😩 and post relevant fucking news please.
White people PLEASE FFS stop renaming shit that's already existed. It's going on a walk, hike, to the park, laying on the grass, hugging a tree, bird watching, listening to animal sounds.
Glad only the best and brightest are hired to write stupid shit like this. Hey guys, did you know you can totally ignore your basic human needs like shelter, food, and safety by forgetting all that and going to a park?
I've been camping in locations where the only fresh water was a lack or river. Not something I would consider bathing in on a regular basis. Way too cold!
Oh yeah! The more people invading the last natural places on earth the better! We are a pest, but please, feel free to earn a living from that! Idiots!
Our democracy is under siege and this is what you choose to focus on @npr.org ? Seriously! Get in the damn game. Do some investigative journalism and start reporting the news.
