He wants to look like the "good guy" by saving tiktok in america. It's a plot to have us paying attention to this instead of the shit show his administration is causing.
Trump was against it before billionaire Jeff Yass started greasing his wheels.
In China the TikTok algorithm is vastly different, promoting science, educational and historical content in China while making our citizens watch stupid dance videos with the main goal of making us imbeciles.
If China relents and ends up selling TikTok to one of America's megacorps (a couple of which already have their eye on it), the oligarchs will be able to control the political narrative more than they already do.
That, in case you don't realize, is very *very* bad.
It is irresponsible to report on this without noting at first reference that Trump does not have the constitutional power to override ratified law. Executive Orders are essentially press releases, so report this one as such; eg, "Trump says he will continue to refuse to enforce TikTok law."
Skylight Social is getting some traction though. (It’s affiliated with Bluesky, if you don’t already know.). Maybe Gen-Z is ready to move on from the TikTok drama (no pun intended).
If he is doing this with TikTok, you can guarantee that this is our future with any meaningful bill passed by Congress that he or his advisors, or donors disagree with.
So the law passed by Congress means nothing? Cool, got it.
What's to stop him from constantly issuing EOs (not laws) forever in the absence of a sale? Stupid, lawless country.
Democrats need to bring this up constantly that they will get the White House and Republicans have made it clear the President overrules all of Congress. That argument needs to be presented today and thrown in their face constantly.
The April 5 date was set in the Statute. Trump has once again usurped the power of the Congress, who have exclusive power over tariffs, and Congress let him do it without a peep.

That's how he retains control of the American mind.

As others have said, if we can't trust our legislators and judiciary to uphold something this simple, what can we trust them to do?
We are bleeding in the streets from this brutal DICKTATOR!

Assuming he leaves office in 2029. Or dies earlier than that.
