Casting suspicion on the rancher is simply Occam's razor. We're expected to believe a 2-year-old walked 7 miles in one night and was magically saved by a sentient dog, based solely on the rancher's testimony?
lacking suspicion for anyone involved in this case is irresponsible
a child was unaccounted for 16 hours and a highly improbable story is being told about it which focuses instead on a cute dog (which makes the rancher seem innocent by association)
Yeah, it’s all so suspicious and not right. I assume they will look into it, but I hope that little guy is ok, how was he not found? Was anyone even looking? Was he dropped and abandoned? I have so many questions!
This looks like my girl Willow. She's an Anatolian Shepherd. She's a good girl too; so caring, smart, and protective (in a good way) over her people and her property.
1/ I find it REALLY Hard to believe that a 2 year old could possibly walk 7 miles. First off, Kids don't march in straight lines. They zigzag left and right, go back and forth as things catch their eye. etc. To end up 7 miles from home by himself, a toddler would probably have walked (cont)
2/ at least 10 miles. So 52,500 feet more or less. A 2 year old's stride is unlikely to be longer than about 1 foot so we're talking about a toddler taking over 50,000 STEPS. At a moderate pace, most adults take about 100 steps per min. If that BABY kept up that pace the entire way, it would (cont)
3/ have taken him about 500 minutes (over EIGHT HOURS) of walking time! I just don't see any 2 year old doing that! Someone dropped that baby off very close to where he was found.
I'm thankful the dog saw him before he wandered away and was truly lost. But there is something more to this story.
Red flags all over this story. Any journalists out there want to take a deeper dive as to how a toddler walks 7 miles?
Where's the YouTube red flag guy when you need him? 😉🚩
I don’t see a head lamp. I’d be convinced if he was wearing a head lamp. The thighs have me convinced that he could cover those miles in that time during the day though.
Clearly that dog is not a republican, because it has compassion, a sense of duty, and respect for doing the right thing. So, Buford needs protection right now from a noem doggy-hit-squad probably already on their way there.
Absolutely amazing. A gentle giant dog helping the little guy. So happy he was found & will be ok. Dogs are wonderful-if only more humans would be too.
funny how an incident of child negligence and seriously bad parenting is transformed into a heartwarming tale about a dog... many adults have trouble walking seven miles... tiny toddler legs going seven miles before anyone could find him is the real story
The rancher wants us to believe:
– A 2-year-old hiked 7 miles of rough terrain in a straight line, in the dark, in 16 hours, despite stopping to sleep
– He survived 45°F at night in an area with natural predators
– 40 volunteers + law enforcement couldn't find him
– A sentient dog led him to safety
I buy the dog found the kid. Guardian breeds have a good sense when things are wrong, it’s part of their DNA to protect.
But the rest of the stuff… he would not be the first kid to mysteriously disappear, claim to spend the night outside and show up miles beyond where a kid his age should be able
He's almost 3. Search and rescue workers on other platforms have said that yes, this is well within the realm of possibility (tiny child covering a surprising distance and turning up unharmed). A 3-year-old a few years back in NC was alone in the woods for 2 days and said a bear protected him.
From zero age to 7 years old the Parents are Responsible for the safety of the child. Most logical thinking Parents believe themselves Responsible to their last breath. Or until the Child says Dad I've got this.

A two year old walked 7 miles? Excuse me while I go back in time, and have a talk with a certain 4 year old who needed to ride piggyback every time we walked more than 5 blocks.
Great Pyrenees are gentle giants who protect their own from predators and threats. Guardians by nature, they are extremely intelligent and have an uncanny knack for sensing when help is needed. This young boy was incredibly lucky to have been found by that beautiful dog.
Get that dog a couple of steaks. The doggo is an Anatolian Pyrenees; meaning its a mix of two of the strongest, most intellligent breeds. The kid got rescued by a super-hero of dogs. Dog knew exactly what it was doing.
I think they're overstating the dog's role for a good story, it sounds like the kid walked freely onto the ranch and the dog walked towards him and barked, leading the rancher to walk over
Not sure how offering an alternative to the "the rancher is a pedo" conspiracy makes me miserable but sure, you carry on with that highly intelligent line of thought
The dog is only 5 years old and guards the perimeter of the property at night. It was no doubt chosen to do just that because of its breed. It's a good news story about a highly intelligent breed and a stroke of luck, and all you lot can do is poke holes in it because you're so cynical.
I want to thank you for this thread, I'm currently writing a research paper about how misconceptions of neurodivergent disorders influence diagnosis, treatment and adaptationand this is great anecdotal evidence against the stereotype that people with ADHD are highly intelligent. Thank you ♥️
I have said many times if people told me dogs were created in the image of a loving forgiving loyal god I'd buy it a lot easier than thinking that Mitch McConnell was.

Unfortunately, he would have also been scared, hungry and thirsty, so it's not a pleasant image in my mind, even with the puppy rescue.
kid would have needed to walk about half a mile per hour to travel 7 miles in 16 hours, not accounting for sleep
I suspect foul play, need to have a longer talk with that rancher and not focus so much on the cute dog
a child was unaccounted for 16 hours and a highly improbable story is being told about it which focuses instead on a cute dog (which makes the rancher seem innocent by association)
Idk

Some of them never, ever, ever sit down.
Seven miles can be a short jaunt to one hyper kiddo.
This one was taken at the scene when he was found.
This reminded me of all of the Lassie shows I watched.
Good girl Lassie.
Let’s all love on Buford.
Animals know how to act, why can’t humans take a hint?
Also, your article says he was last seen in a tank top and pajama pants and the kid in this photo has dreads, a PJ top and NO pants. WTH?

Mythbusters proved it can't be done for even 1000 feet.

So happy for such a wonderful turnout. Brings tears.

Crossed Pacific Coast Highway to get to the beach, in diapers.
Lifeguards thought it was a hoot.
Mom wasn't so thrilled.
Wouldn’t want to inhabit this world without dogs.
Good job,Pup!!
The epitome of loyalty.
My grandparents had a pup named Tippy who pulled my uncle out of a fire when he was a baby. His cradle had tipped over into the fireplace.
Tippy was king after that!
"Who's the bestest dog ever?!!"
I’d suggest this rabbit hole, as this happens more than you would think. Dogs are often involved too.
A happy story
