sorry I will ride hard for my freak sister charlotte who grew up with such a repressed homeschooled childhood her dream of a bad boy could only be sanctified via his own repentance (her rebellion was saying "I promise it doesn't make you a bad Christian to not marry the puritan who tolerates you.")
it does suck how fatal hyperemesis gravidarum was before IVs, but I can't begrudge her falling in love (or wanting to?) after living such a wretchedly lonely life, often out of duty to the garbage men in her family, but never letting go of her principles.
yes arthur bell nichols was whatever, and yes her best friend's reaction being "she always WAS going to marry a great big ol brute" but her final words being "He will not separate us. We have been so happy!" always makes me tear up. I'm glad she got even 3-9 months of relational happiness lol
