While definitely a factor, it's not the only factor. Much of media has become reductive, attempting to cram all the best moments together without the supporting framework which made them good to begin with.

true, also something that personally contributes to this, is that ive consumed so much content that i dont feel like im getting very unique experiences anymore. Sometimes i play "lets predict the whole plot of this game" and it turns out later exactly how I expected lol

And the industry changed. People compare modern AAA to older games that cost like 20 or 50 times less to make and had a very different audience in mind, when they should look into smaller games to find the kind of experience they want.

There certainly is but I'v finished them bud, I like variety I cant play the same 5 indie games all year. There used to be enough new experiences but it feels like only 20% of the entire industry is trying and a lot of companies have got comfortable.

It's old people shit and I'm so over it, as an old myself, I'm starting to hear friends talk like this about pop culture, double down for my friends who have teenagers now. I use the phrase "You've become your parents." way more than I care to nowadays about their aversion to modernity.

Once I had the time to go thru a 100+ hours RPG and felt the achievement of do a 100% run.

No I'm thankful can play for a couple of hours a week and complete a 30+ hours game in like 3 months LOL. Yeah there are sill good games around.
