Nice! I took that connection yesterday and overheard the conductor was explaining to some poor hungry guy in my Wagen that there was no food service because the EC was 40 years old and the Bistro-Waggon had died in the line of duty at some point 🚂

Not quite true. DB decided to take the Bistro carriages out of service because they have an unusual type of doors that DB no longer wanted to have in its fleet. So it was DB's choice - it was possible to overcome (but DB didn't want to overcome it).

Talgo at low speed is ok. On a brand new HSL it’s also ok. Anything in between… damn it’s bumpy and shaky. Even a Talgo 130 at 160km/h isn’t pleasant.

(I honestly think this is the first time I see this in my railway work: something goes wrong, and you end up with something *much better* instead. The ICE3neo is a really super comfortable train, better than a ICE-L will *ever* be. This is genuinely good news!)

The Bad news, the ICE3 neo has less seats compared to the IC1 cars or the Talgo ICE-L. 1st class 99 instead of 108, 2nd class 340 instead of 499 seats.

The good news, since the begin of February there is no catering service (snackpoint) on this train. But ICE-3 Neo will bring the full service back

Talgo in the past decade has only built things with poor ride quality. And the carriages are cramped. I was in the trial carriage at InnoTrans - it’s not great.

Yes, they will be taken from ICE line 41. Pure speculation on my part, but I would expect the massive loss of seating capacity on Amsterdam - Berlin to lead to the introduction of compulsory reservations on the cross-border section in summer, as per Amsterdam - Frankfurt and Hamburg - Copenhagen

Great news!

Hated the Osnabrück - Amsterdam Centraal connection, because of the train standard.

Now it remains for DSB to finally upgrade the Copenhagen - Hamburg connection, and things will significantly improve.

Doubt it. Those will be needed at some point when the ICE-L Talgo trains run, as the Talgo locomotives are going to need even longer to be approved than the carriages!

It's good news for reliability and comfort, but bad news for train capacity. The ICEs have considerably fewer seats. The Christmas period is going to be a lot of "fun" on these trains.

Running double would be good at busy times, but by the end of the year DB'll be glad if they have enough sets to replace all trains on this line. AFAIK running more often is currently only possible between Amsterdam and Osnabrück. Or maybe to Berlin in a different path, as in the Deutschlandtakt.
