Sigh. So every year I do this exercise handing out little printed cards to my class with occupations on them distributed in roughly demographically correct amounts and I always make clear I do, in fact, want them back (to reuse the next year).
And I check my stack and I am missing ONE farmer card.

Nor an accident that democratic/semi-democratic polities in antiquity have broad(ish) heavy infantry based armies.
And you never investigate the serial killer of farmers? That’s been killing for years and getting away with it?
Because the aristocracy couldn’t care less about their serfs presumably?

DYAC.
(For those getting excited, the occupations aren't very granular: there's 'king' (me), upper aristocracy, other large landholders/clergy, skilled artisans, unskilled laborers and farmers.)
- That's offensive. I'm a TA, not a PA.
-Erm, OK. I name you Viceroy of the Canteen Archipelago! Sail to that distant land with the royal navy and come back with the yearly tribute.
Should be a daily tribute instead. 😉
