If you’re in the US, try searching other libraries in your state & see if they offer digital cards to state residents. I’ve found at least three in Virginia that only require you live in VA (one was also open to NC!). You may also find libraries that let you pay an annual non-resident fee for a card
And check other jurisdictions in your state! Those out if state libraries are probably going to charge a non-resident fee annually but I found three so far in my state that were open to all state residents, not just county/city residents
Every time I leave my bubble in my state I stop by the local library. I have four from my state right now plus the Queer Liberation Library which is free to anyone in the US. So I'm really lucky to have as many as I do.
Did you have to go to the libraries to get them? They want me to come in person. I don't have a car. And my library in town here ran out of books for me to use on Kindle/Libby.
I did. They said I had to come in. I'm not paying $55 to take an Uber to each library. LOL! I live on 1k a month as it is. And doctor trips cost a lot.
I am really surprised at there being multiple municipalities that let you get a card if you’re a state resident but don’t live there! In Virginia! Might be worth checking midsized cities in your state to see if they also roll that way. The big reciprocal ones all wanted resident IDs but not these
