I used to take a kevlar shield to work, especially after a high-profile shooting at a school a few hours from me. It's indescribably draining knowing some lunatic could murder you or your students or your colleagues at any time & the response would be a collective shrug & empty vows to "do better."

I'm noticing a lot of social issues where minorities live with a problem and the white voting block as a collective doesn't care. (There are "woke" white people but they don't sway elections). But as soon as those issues *begin* to effect white voters suddenly it matters and should be fixed.
