QOTW: GTA aside, it’s Death Stranding 2 for me. I thought OG was going to be one and done so I’m glad Kojima has more to tell, and I can’t wait to spend hours building shortcuts across treacherous terrain, drinking Monster, emptying my pee meter and throwing poop at eldritch horrors all over again.

I am really looking forward to Civilization VII. Civ VI didn't really have that addictive "one more turn..." magic for me like the previous games did. But I've been following the development of VII, and I'm cautiously optimistic for another hit of that wonderful turn-based crack.

I’m pretty stoked for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. If it’s anywhere near as good as the Danganronpa and the rest of Too Kyo Games’s offerings, I’ll be playing through it for the better part of the year.

Dragon Quest 1&2 HD. I have many fond memories of playing Dragon Warrior 1 on my NES. It's no 2 billion(?!) dollar GTA6 but I'm very excited for it.

It'll have to be Doom: The Dark Ages for me. Loved 2016 and Eternal so I'm looking forward to how the game fits into everything.

Definitely slay the spire 2. I have logged entirely too many hours on my switch/steam/PS5 and can't wait to get some fresh cards, enemies, relics, and systems.

Atelier Yuma is my pick. As a latecomer to the series, Atelier Ryza is easily the game I've put the most time into this year, so if Yumia can replicate and further evolve the extremely satisfying and addictive game loop of the previous games, I'll gladly make this my go-to cozy game.

QOTW: I know I'm sending this late, but I'm real excited for Atomfall by Rebellion. It's a FPS open-world survival-action game that puts Britain in a fictional post-war apocalypse that gives me Fallout: New Vegas meets Wickerman vibes. I can't wait to explore the mystery of this world.

Side note: I'm not sure if avowed has a third person view but you probably know that style of game I'm talking about. Rpgs where you directly control one character in a big open world. Skyrim-likes? Is there a name for these??

I finally crossed “The Outer Worlds” off my backlog this past year, and I’m stoked to see the sequel. As a huge fan of “Fallout: New Vegas”, this series feels as close to a “spiritual successor” as we’re ever going to get. Happy new year, guys!

QotW: Debtcube! Let’s make Madden interesting, but seriously it’s Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. After playing the Switch remake of the original, I was drawn right back into that wonderful world. It fills the wonderful niche of exploratory shooter and my stars that soundtrack slaps, give me more!

Cronos: The New Dawn. I don't have a ps5 but hearing how well Bloober Team did with the Silent Hill 2 remake makes me super stoked to see what they can do with some good ol' sci-fi horror.
