The latest @vgapocalypse.bsky.social raises an interesting question: When did "D-pad" become commonplace terminology? I definitely remember the Genesis calling it the D-Button. I have to think it evolved from that. The earliest form of "D-pad" I can find is actually Xbox, but still not quite.

For those who missed when I went on about this the other day: Street Cleaner 3 is an absolute blast from start to finish. If you have any affection for old-school sidescrollers (and maybe wish they felt a bit more modern, gameplay-wise), you owe it to yourself to check it out.
