QOTW: NFTs. The wet dream of capitalism would be to take your money and give nothing back and with it NFTs felt like we almost got that. I’m glad people are continuing to reject them even though some publishers are still pushing them.

QOTW: Quicktime events. Despise having prompts appear during cutscenes. Thank god ppl like Insomniac made it optional. I hate having these gorgeously created cut scenes being broken up with buttons appearing onscreen.

QotW: Poorly thought out, numbers based achievements that aren't organic to the way the game is played. Get 1000 headshots with a certain gun for example, load of bollocks I ain't doing it. Also unless the game has dramatically different 3rd act, individual achievements for multiple endings, eat ass

QOTW: I have two trends that I pretty much hated from the start. Random instant fail stealth sections in non-stealth games. The early missions in Wind Waker come to mind, and also the stealth sections in Star Wars:Outlaws were the worst.

Escort missions are the other trend that I was over…

It's not just the ability to buy in game items with real world currency but the various tricks employed such as diminishing returns, obfuscating the value of currency with multiple intermediary currencies, "best value" framing, and so on

QotW:forced stealth sequences in nonstealth games. This has been a problem since at least OoT but seems to have had a resurgence lately especially in Metroidvanias like the Lost Crown and Metroid Dread. All the upgrades in the world means nothing when you lose progress to a near invincible guard

QotW: Battle Royale style multiplayer. I like my multiplayer to have defined objectives and set maps. I hate this directionless wandering with long stretches of nothing happening/camping. I want my multiplayer to be crafted to drive player interactions. Not just mindlessly wandering.

QOTW: Pre-order DLC quickly became an annoying trend. Instead of rewarding players, it locked content behind retailer exclusives, forcing people to miss out or buy/pre-order multiple copies. What's worse, some “exclusive” content was later sold as regular DLC

“Rpg elements” in every action game. linear ass skill trees, crafting fucking ammo, and the worst: The dreaded fun suck of Diablo colored loot. I love Diablo, but I played through all of God of War and never found a use for stupid ass +4% poison resist. Designed equipment > random numbers going up.

QOTW: Having to buy some random piece of merchandise like a messenger bag or comic to get DLC. I think this kind of peaked with Mass Effect 3, but it was still happening when Arkham Knight came out. Usually it was just some small cosmetic, but that shit was old the second it started.
