The thing with Oblivion is that, just like with other TES entries (not counting Skyrim), every build slowly shifts to different brews of Combat Mage because Magic is never properly balanced, so people who refuse to use enchantments (which, knowing the amount of Oblivion gates, is kinda crazy).
And other types of Magic outside of Restoration are just gonna get their ass beat. It's like playing an SMT game and refusing to engage with the usage of buffs and debuffs. Game's problem is not the leveling system, is just how blatantly unbalanced It is (again, just like with the rest of TES).
Funny how the main detractions from Morrowind are people not engaging with the game mechanics (Trying to mash attacks, not understanding how big skill levels are) and with Oblivion is people not engaging with the game mechanics (Not using stuff like Ench.Stones in a game that gives them like candy).
I remember playing Scholar around 2023 or so and after hearing so much negative shit about It I thought It was maybe better than DS1, and then the guy you are refering to started uploading and I realized an entire generation was gaslighted into thinking the game was bad and without even playing it.
Two had some issues but the rebalance of scholar really helped fix them and the addition of the 3 DLCs really added a lot of meat to the game itself. But on release it was a lot of "man what the fuck"
I played it years later and it was terrible. It felt like a parody of dark souls made by someone who hated it. My weapon could not hit anything while the enemies spun around like ballerinas to track me. Also that intro cutscene really rubbed me the wrong way.
Starting a third venture, where I take every attack AND defense of Dark Souls 2 on Youtube, and simply go
"Hmm hmm, yeah, alright, I guess I see where you're coming from."

also lmao Jesus Christ
You get that a lot in the main game even in scholar
"Hmm hmm, yeah, alright, I guess I see where you're coming from."
