i’ve seen so many posts about amca’s decision to not cover andor that are like its a shame because andor has such important things to say about the current moment and it makes my head. explode

if/when they eventually get around to doing this series - it will be better for this reason - it's a piece that's about the current moment, and it's harder to examine that moment while it's happening instead of in retrospect
Best for you break away give your brain some shut down,if this is to much ,because it's not going to stop until justice and our AMERICA IS SAFE FROM THE HANDS OF EVIL.
I just stumbled into this and had to look up what you were talking about. There is a boycott against Disney just because they employ Israeli actors who haven’t publicly come out against the genocide in Gaza? Forgive me if I’m missing something but that just sounds like racism against Jews.
it’s either that or disingenuously pointing out how everything is tainted in some way so just watch the show anyway. you’re still playing a microsoft video game on a podcast covering a franchise owned by disney etc. as if that’s an argument to just give up?
this and the oblivion remaster make me feel really pessimistic about the people who just want to be told they're good for eating their treats and cannot abide a second of fleeting discomfort for an actual cause
"3 million plays of the new Doom" like cool, most gaming podcasts and sites cover all this shit without mentioning BDS or do mental gymnastics to give themselves reasons to cover these games. It's maddening
they’re absolutely aware of their position in the Fandom Machine that is disney star wars. that’s why pausing coverage of their most popular show and intentionally refusing to be part of an active promo cycle, absolutely at a genuine financial hit to them, is a meaningful act
I don't want to go looking for it, but deep in the replies to the first episode, people are still saying they're upset, and Austin Walker says something along the lines of "seeing all the outrage has really shown the limits of what sort of difference we can actually make."
Like people are basically going "you guys covering season one is what radicalized me into a perfect and devoted leftist, which is why i think you guys are stupid to boycott a genocide and all leftism will ultimately fail if i cannot listen to podcast."
anyway and ultimately people are right that this is just a show for nerds. it’s not a big deal. but if it’s so frivolous surely that means it should be easy to follow bds guidelines then. they’re asking so very little of us in marginal areas of our lives. why is that an argument for ignoring it
That argument is extra frustrating, Austin goes in detail on that first KoTOR2 ep about their decision and explains in detail how even though Microsoft owns Obsidian now, KoTOR 2 is owned by a completely different company
If Andor has such important things to say about imperial propaganda, genocide and the cost of freedom maybe its fans would be willing to understand the deep cost of having to sacrifice a little treat to help fight for the oppressed
You need to be a very special kind of fucking stupid to believe that a coverage or, rather, consumption of one show will do anything about current moment
We are well past talking about how fascism is bad! Watching another show about it won't help anyone!!!
to piggyback off this, season 2 of andor is also being treated by some people as the ONLY piece of media that's describing fascism in the current moment. like if you don't watch andor you'll be left utterly in the dark, unable to see what's going on. it's ridiculous.

It really shows how far people are willing to go to try and make an impact, and it’s really not very far at all

Respect the fucking boycott!
