I wrote a 400-page fantasy when I was 12/13 years old, and I’m so tempted to return to the draft & edit it as an adult published author, see what happens.

Even if you find it too daunting to go through the entire draft to make changes, at least reading through it can spark new ideas and build upon existing ones. I highly recommend it.
I basically did this! I had 360 pages of a really terrible fantasy story I wrote when I was about 12, and I've completely revamped it into a whole new story. It's super satisfying
Do it! I've been doing it with a sci fi short I wrote as a 13 year old, because I read it again, realised it was actually really strong in ideas, but lacking the refinement I'm capable of now. It's turning into a full length novel.
i have been trying to do this with my backlog of childhood projects i had written out details for but never had tangible skills to complete. There's some gold, there's some cringe that definitely speaks of age at the time, but its so rewarding to go through and fix up!
I have a fantasy series I wrote as a teen as well that's been creeping back into my mind 👀 I may revisit it. Was doing some world building for D&D and the story is sucking me back in.
Definitely do it. There is something about passion products from our youth that have so much raw potential and really are like time capsules into how we saw things then. Altering and revisiting now that time has passed not only gives chance for reflection but reigniting that passion.
Sounds interesting. Im still rewritting the 300 pague fantasy I wrote when ai was 12. Not as a publiques autor, just because I would like to publish it but it takes a lot of time to fix every Dumb decision I took back then xD
Hope You the Best!
Once I get my current writing going in a better place, I definitely plan on revisiting old concepts I wrote as a kid or abandoned as a young adult. I think it's worth giving it another shot, even if the end result will be an entirely different story
That's SO impressive as a young teenager....... I think it would be such a kind and fun thing to do FOR your younger self to go back and honour where that creativity sparked 🥺
If you do! Could you please show us the before and after!!! I've always been interested in creative writing but what scares me most is not getting it perfect the first time so I'd love to see this

The main character was called Nervardia, so at least I got a pretty name out of it.
If my life worked out differently, I probably would have named my daughter that.
Simple, easy to say and phonetically spelt. Alas, it was not meant to be.
If you know anyone who is having a baby...
Hope You the Best!
good luck
