But someone still needs to enforce the law. So when the levers of power who ignore court orders are held to account in a court, and no one enforces the court’s order, what then? Because that’s the next step.

They can also issue fines large enough to be life-ruining, and keep escalating those fines the longer the contempt goes on.

Even if Trump tries to prevent anyone from enforcing those fines, they'll make the ppl subject to them utterly unable to access credit of any kind.

It's important to remember that businesses, but especially banks have to be able to get and rely on court orders to operate. And openly defying a court order is a quick way to lose access to being able to get your own court orders.

Yeah, it's pretty telling that JP Morgan put out a statement recently that did not directly reference anything specific, but basically said "we can't operate effectively as a bank or financial institution without the rule of law."

When push comes to shove they'll side with courts.
