I’ve been reading longer than I have memories, and what got me hooked on reading was adults finding it impressive. 😂 But the first series I really remember loving was Harry Potter in 3rd grade. And Lois Duncan had middle school me in a chokehold.

Harry Potter got so many kids! I remember watching that spread like wildfire and seeing so many more kids with noses in books. Really wish JK Rowling wasn’t such a bigot because that first hook is so influential and HP was great for it.

My bf and his mom are huge Potter fans, as well, but they’ve never read the books. I suggested audiobooks, and last year, they read all of them. She really has become one of her own villains. There were so many important messages in them that are now tarnished.

Oh my god this book was amazing. My dad would read it in the most dramatic way and we would laugh and laugh. I did the same for my kids, and loved every second of it.

I love revisiting favorites from when I was a kid. Haven’t gone back for BSC, but Anne of Green Gables and other LM Montgomery books, A Wrinkle in Time, and lots of Roalf Dahl have been fun to reread as an adult.

It took forever for the movie to come out! (And I didn’t hate it). I was monopolizing this book by repeatedly checking it out of the bookmobile that visited my Massachusetts neighborhood in the mid-1970s.
