I got one of those carrying cases! I scooped one up about a decade or so ago at a flea market for cheap. Super convenient when I brought my N64 stuff to a convention, I store my slim PS2 in it now. I was a bit too young to have remember N64 games at TrU but I do vaguely remember when KB Toys had em.

I was never down with the R-Zone (either the section of Toys R Us or a game system; take your pick). I preferred the weirdly convoluted system of taking a ticket from a blue sleeve, paying for the ticket at a point of sale, then taking the stamped ticket to a brick fortress for my game.

Those are my favorite Toys R Us memories too. We never knew how good we had it until it changed.

I'm going to make it my personal headcanon that dropping the ticket system in favor of the R-Zone is the sole reason for the eventual failure of the company.

Ugh, the R-Zone. Video game things called "R-Zone" always suck... see also the Tiger handheld of the same name. I much preferred it when Toys R Us had the tickets system, where you'd grab a ticket, bring it to the front, and get your games from a big brick fortress at the front of the store.
