This is how I would have seen Homeworld at the time, running at 640x480 resolution on D3D or 3DFX (since I had a Voodoo Banshee at the time) if I wanted high detail and still have a reasonably smooth frame rate.

Was Homeworld actually a 3DFX game?

I dipped back intop some FiFa99 a couple of years ago and was shocked at just how many games do benefit from a glide wrapper.

I *sucked* at Homeworld. But I restarted the campaign, over and and over sometimes progressing a bit further, sometimes less, because I just wanted to help them find their way home.

I don't think any other strategy game has compelled or moved as much before, or since, Homeworld 1.

Yeah, it's really tough in places and you can get yourself into no-win situations if you don't manage your fleet carefully enough. But yeah, the story kept me going all the way through to the end. I wanted a win for these people after all they'd endured.
