Sprinkler systems prevent building fires WAY MORE consistently than having two staircases, and yet every building by default in Canada that's two stories or more requires at least two staircases, yet no single detached homes require sprinklers

What are the odds that malfunctioning sprinklers damage a home compared to the odds of a fire? My mom lives someplace sprinklers are required in single family homes and a surprising number of her neighbors have horror stories of kids or accidents setting them off, etc. It may not be a slam dunk.
Working in the building / fire industry i can understand the confusion folks might have seeing such things - but they are both there based on specific reasons/requirements
The stairs are required for egress in case of emergency & homes typically fall under a residential code (that is less strict)
If construction codes are based on rationale, then they should be adjusted for updated knowledge on such things, is the point I am making is all, as they do not seem to be so much at the moment

I already mentioned my piece about building codes elsewhere, just calling out inconsistencies so people can improve on them
