Outside of Austen and her contemporaries, I regularly read my Georgette Heyers? Favourites are Venetia and The Grand Sophy, but I love all of them really. I kinda struggle to read more recently published Regency stuff - mistakes in dress, vocabulary, manners etc are really jarring.

I mostly stick to Regency & Victorian romance so my recs are always from that subgenre. Two of my favorites by my most favorite author below. She is such a great writer and they're so full of angst. I love angst. ☺️

When Ethan tells Garrett about the woman who taught him intimate skills, Kleypas apparently didn't give that woman a name in the book. That caused the reviewer linked above to claim it was racist as the woman is Indian.

I think the name wasn't mentioned because Ethan was trying to avoid details +

...about previous women he was intimate with because he didn't want to hurt Garrett's feelings. What woman who is about to be intimate with a man want to hear detailed descriptions of the other women he'd slept with? But that's just me.

Either way, these edits have made the books choppy.

It started with the book review linked below and apparently LK was accused of racism (I personally disagree with that POV). Which in turn triggered a number of edits of many of her books. As a result she hasn't published anything new.
