Two furniture shops, I’ve never seen anyone in one of the furniture shops

My town has barber that is used, but a lot of “soft furnishing” shops that I swear no one uses.

I wonder if it’s known how much money is being laundered, there are so many of these types of businesses, at least there is some tax coming from it that goes towards local government, maybe that’s why it’s tolerated.

(Which I don’t hugely care about, the money they are laundering doesn’t seem related to around here, we aren’t suffering a blizzard of drugs on the street, but it is quite notable and quite funny that this is the case, we all know there’s something going on and nobody says anything)

This might be a case of "poaster not kno economicks" but the number of tattoo parlours perplexes me. Even when "Ageing Colin From IT*" is inked I still can't see how there is enough footfall to pays the bills etc.

When I lived in the US we spent a while renting a house from a biker my wife's dad knew, who rented to us at below market rate on the proviso that we paid cash. He also owned a self service car wash and a laundromat that were apparently very successful despite being constantly empty.

We had a furniture shop on the corner of our new build estate in Walthamstow which never, ever had anyone in it. One day, after about two yrs, I mentioned it on the building WhatsApp group and everyone agreed it was a front. Literally the next day people came and shut it down. 🤔
