I have honestly never even thought about this, and it's even weirder for me that this is a distinction in english, probably because in hungarian all fingers have the word for "finger" (ujj) in their name :P

I see it surprisingly often, in discussions for critter gloves, fursuit or other. And it makes my scales crawl every time I see people describe it like that.

Fingers are not the same as Digits.

I probably should've clarified that we don't have a separate word for "thumb" it's just another finger in my language, which makes sense to me :D

Bit like paws! Think its about different functionality! Some people think a dog has 4 paws, some people talk about Dog feet! I do like the term phalanges!

Its the name of the sub bones. that make up fingers and toes ( and thumbs) . I wonder why we have big toes and not feet thumbs!
